about West Nebraska Arts Center

The West Nebraska Arts Center (WNAC) is a cultural non-profit organization committed to education, awareness and excellence in the arts, serving the North Platte Valley Region.

The West Nebraska Arts Center was selected by the Nebraska Tourism Commission to be one of eight arts attractions featured in the 2013 Nebraska Passport program’s Picture the Scene tour.  In celebration of this honor, this exhibit is tailor-made for travelers.  The West Nebraska Summer Art Sale features “travel-size” (no larger than 20”) original artwork created by local  and regional artists.  All pieces are cash and carry, meaning you buy it, you can take it with you immediately.  We want to encourage more road trips to western NE and we want visitors to take some amazing artwork home with them.

The Nebraska Arts Council, a state agency, has supported this program through its matching grants program funded by the Nebraska Legislature, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.  Visit www.nebraskaartscouncil.org for information on how the Nebraska Arts Council can assist your organization, or how you can support the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.

After-School Art Classes in Scottsbluff and Mitchell

The West Nebraska Arts Center is pleased to offer After-School Art Classes at two locations this year:  WNAC, 106 E. 18th Street, Scottsbluff and Inventive Media, 1210 Center Avenue, Mitchell, NE.  Parents should choose the location that is most convenient for them.  After-school art is open to all youth grades K-6.  There will be a different instructor each month and a variety of topics, mediums, and techniques covered.  Materials are provided in most classes.    Some of the instructors this year include Lena Soto, Mason Burbach, Donna Thompson, Tiffany Schank, and Larry Delgado covering mixed media, fiber art, drawing, watercolor, pen & ink, assemblage, and more.  If you are interested in teaching art classes or volunteering to help at either location, contact Donna.

The classes are held on Tuesdays from 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. and the cost is $45.00 per month for WNAC members, $50.00 for non-members.

Class size is limited so early registration is encouraged, but students can begin most anytime, depending on the projects...
